This guy is so NEGATIVE!!! I have traded for 3 years and must admit his first book was ok, it made me very conscious of expenses and their impact on your profitability. (Most traders make 1 to 2 cents a share so trading costs must be controlled.) Guess what, Elder goes back over this area again and again and again.
Elder is not a good writer. He wanders, he repeats himself, he goes off about a “loser” trading gold futures instead of spending time with his family. He writes about owning a PC with kilobytes instead of megabytes. It’s so hopelessly mixed up that I hope he gets to the point. But there is none.
Save your money,the guy can’t write.

I bought this book for my wife since she likes stock trading. She told me this is a great book which worthes 5 starts. Although I know nothing about trading, I did spent some days on this book just for curiosity. However, I felt lost most of the time since the book talks some terms with less detail (e.g., k tail). I assume that only people who knows TA will benefit from this book, not the ones who know nothing about trading or TA yet. I guess the people may benefit more if buy the author’s another book “Trade for a living”. So I will give a 4 stars.

I own a copy of Trading for a Living, now this. Its a great book without much overlap with his first book.

It is an exciting and wonderful book I have ever read on stock
trading! Obviously the author have not only solid experience
and knowledge background in stock, but also great skills
in teaching. The three points he made made a lot of
sense to me: mind, method and money management. Another great
thing is that the author knows what kind of mistakes newbies
are likely to make. In many cases he compared how a newbies is
likely to do and how a professional is likely to do. These
comparisons are very helpful to me.
I practiced the princples in my trading. It helps, a lot!
Following one of the introduced pattern, yesterday I
successfully caught a stock rallied 17% in one day! I am a
newbie in stock, but made real money.
One thing I don’t like is the book cover. It is easily slipped
away from the hard cover of the book. So finally I just put it
aside.
The language and wording is smooth, interesting, concise and
accurate.
Overall, this book has great content, is very fun to read.
Highly recommended.
