when gold was 400 to 420 an ounce I was buying it like crazy for the greater depression,LOL… But when it hit 1000 $ an ounce I was selling it .I took it to my bank.Most cions were canadian maples.Told them I want to sell my gold maples or cash them in or put them into my acct…They looked at the coins and looked at me amd told me “we dont take these” So I had to find buyers before it went down.I made a pile of money,then I bought other stuff so I would not be holding dollars ,lol

I’ve done the precious metals thing and stored food, guns, ammo, information, camping gear and all that but since I don’t really drink, it never appealed to me to stock Alcohol or smokes. I think alcohol has greater shelf life than smokes so I think I’ll buy that. Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve always been totally disgusted by the rampant consumerism on the US. Buying more house than you need or an overly fancy car never appealed to me. Now that the whole mess is collapsing under it’s own weight I’m sort of sarcastically amused. Also, my frugal lifestyle is paying off now. My only debts are 25 thousand on my mortgage and about 1200 on my credit card (which I’ll knock out next paycheck). Being a geek has really paid off.

As for the cable converter box, I have a lot of dust where my TV is, so I had to wrap a thin shirt around the converter box to keep the dust off it. This also happens to cause any camera inside to see fuzzy (through the shirt) but it doesn’t stop the TV remote from changing the channels.

silver coins are easier to get and track pretty much right with Gold. 1 oz Gold coind is likely close to or over 1000.00 a silver coind is around 18 now. you can even buy whats called silver rounds a bit cheaper than say an american eagle coin and trade it at the value of Silver.
